October 2006 Champion Genetics Inc purchased the custom semen department of  COBA/Select Sires. There were no breaks in service, it was a fairly seamless transition.

In November 2007, Champion Genetics Inc opened its new facility just outside of Canton, TX. Craig Barton and Bob Woodard formed Champion Genetics Inc to work in the part of the industry they are truly passionate about.

Bob Woodard worked for COBA for 30 years performing custom collections. He is also a reproductive specialist, consulting on breeding programs.

Craig Barton has a BS in Animal Science and worked for COBA for 23 years. The first two of those years were beside Bob collecting. The last 21 years were spent in sales and cattle evaluations working in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

In 2014 Bob was ready to retire, so Craig bought out his interests in the business.

Champion Genetics Inc has now become a Family owned and operated with 3 generations working together.
